    • The factory McLaren M838T/M840T turbos are more than capable of bending the OEM connecting rods

These pictures come from Renaissance Speed who specializes in McLaren tuning. The importance of upgrading McLaren M838T and M840T connecting rods is going to become apparent in 2020 as McLarens are making big strides in power.

McLarenBoost asked how this happened and they are not exactly certain as they were increasing boost on the factory turbochargers. At some point there was too much torque down low in the RPM band for the factory rods.

How it was tuned, what fuel, how many miles, how the car was used, etc., are all factors.

It is going to be very interesting to see what built motor McLarens bring to the table.
