    • Stock McLaren 720S vs. ES850 991.1 Turbo S and a VTG upgraded 991.1 Turbo S 1/4 mile runs

You should be familiar with this McLaren 720S which is stock and it put up some impressive numbers on Toyo R888R's on the dragstrip. It runs a VTG upgraded 991.1 Turbo S as well as a yellow ES850 upgraded 991.1 Turbo S which recently set the 1/2 mile stock internal 991 Turbo record.

The first run features the black 991.1 Turbo S and it gets creamed:

      That's a beatdown.

Up next is the ES850 1/2 mile record holder. It wins but it is close despite the slip showing the Turbo in the left lane with a 6.5 mile per trap speed advantage:

The yellow ES850 Turbo and the McLaren run again and a final time. This time the McLaren 720S (again in the right lane) gets a much better launch and takes the win:

The ES850 991.1 Turbo S is definitely the faster car but not by much and we are talking about a stock 720S here. It sure takes quite a bit to beat one and just imagine that 720S with a software tune.

I would hope the 720s performs like that, for Christ's sake it's nearly $300K.

I would expect it to compete well vs tuned competitors while being 100% stock, Click here to enlarge

There are plenty of cars in the $300K price range that are no where near the performance of a 720S. The 720S is in a league of its own.

We get it the 720s is the supercar king. The competition better do something, every story I see involving the McLaren is the same outcome.

Well i guess people buy those other cars for another reason other than performance because they should be buying the 720S.

        ~3000lbs
~800hp (its underrated and definitely a lot more than 720hp at the crank)

Killer power to weight ~3.75lb/hp combined with top shelf suspension and traction management

3.75lb/hp is better than many hypercars...

        Pagani Zonda = 3.93lb/hp
        Pagani Hyura = 4.25lb/hp
        Bugatti Veyron = 4.16lb/hp
        etc.
        etc.

So far, GTRs w/turbo upgrades seem to be one of the few platforms that can put the hurt on them....

        Or non-VTG turbos like Dave's.
